Carl Bass Joins Oqton Board of Directors
San Francisco, CA – August 21, 2018 – Oqton, an autonomous manufacturing platform provider, today announced the appointment of Carl Bass to its board of directors. A seasoned technology icon and former CEO of Autodesk, Bass will serve as an independent director of the company.
The challenges we see with factory implementation are that many existing IIoT solutions don’t monitor the necessary number of sensors per machine, don’t account for interactions between machines and fail to make full use of the data to report and produce insights that deliver on the promise of the technology.
“Creating truly intelligent manufacturing is going to require people who are willing to approach the problem differently” Bass said. “The breadth of talent on the Oqton team is a powerful and unique combination. I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of realizing this vision.”
Bass co-founded Ithaca software, which was acquired by Autodesk in 1993. During his 24-year tenure at Autodesk, he served in key roles across the organization, including CEO from 2006 to 2017. He currently sits on the board of directors for multiple technology companies and continues to explore new concepts in advanced manufacturing at his workshop in Berkeley, CA.
